ASR Traction Control
ASR Traction Control
Hey, im new here so i donno if this question has been posted before. I have a 1995 Z28 M6 Camaro and its got the ASR Traction Control. I can see the light on the dash that says ASR OFF so common sence tells me that there should be a way to turn that light on. I want to get rid of the traction control. Is there a switch or easy process to do this? Thanks
Kyle

Perhaps your car doesn't have traction control? The dimmed out writing on the dash doesn't neccessarily mean you have it... they use the same dash probably in most of the Fbodys...
When you floor it in wet weather do your wheels spin? OR does your accellerator tap at your foot and "let off" the throttle a bit till it gets traction?

Look at your camaro1.jpg picture. start at the bottom of the picture and run your eyes along the left edge of the center console, past the shifter to the first vertical surface you run into. That button there, you can see it in the picture, is the ASR toggle.
Your traction control will automatically turn on each time you start the car so if you don't want it on, push that button.

Well I learn something new every day. That's the TCS switch in a hardtop. I wonder if you could order TCS in a convertable?
As Toby360 suggested above you may have ABS but not TCS. One quick way to confirm this is look at the number of brake hoses that go from the body to the rear axle. One = ABS, Two = ABS/TCS. Or the more fun way to determine is can you safely do doughnuts in a wet parking lot (no TCS) or do you feel the brakes activating and the gas pedal being pushed back at you (TCS).
