arrow on balancer??

arrow on balancer??

doing my valve springs on the car this weekend and just want to confirm that the large arrow on the balancer with the 3 blots around it is what i will be going by to line it up on TDC..thanks

Yes, the arrow could mean either #1 or # 6 is at TDC. Look at the rockers to determine which one it is.

just in case you don't know, the cylinder its on will have both intke and exhaust valves closed when at TDC, also if you spin the motor over by hand you can watch to see if they are moving or staying still. You can also have someone crank the engine while you hold your finger over the sparkplug hole of number 1 cylinder, when TDC is reached it will push your finger off from the pressure. I don't always trust that the balancer was put on correct, from what I hear its nuetral balanced so somebody that might have owned it before you might have taken it off and put it on the wrong spot.
