ARP Head Bolts

Well, I blew a head gasket sunday and I am looking to fix the issue myself. Can I re-use my current arp head bolts that are on the car already? I know they are not torque to yield like the factory bolts. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I have never done anything this major to my vehicle. I think the most difficult thing that I have done is change the fuel pump and intake manifold gasket. Hopefully it isn't too challenging.

yep, apply some sealant (rtv, hylomar, liquid teflon etc) to the threads and go for it.

Clean the head bolt holes with a thread chaser(not at TAP!!!). I recommend sealing the head bolts with Permatex High temperature thread sealant.

Also clean the heads and block as best you can without gouging the surfaces. I start with a putty scraper for the heavy stuff and move to a razor for the difficult stuff....just be very careful. A steel razor to aluminum heads is generally a no-no. I've took a razor to aluminum and done okay, but again....be very careful.

Brake cleaner and lacquer thinner can help get surfaces clean too....lol, just don't smoke around it.

Yes you can re-use the ARP bolts, just make sure they are clean, use some sort-of sealant on the threads and torque to 65-70 ft lbs.
