Apparently, it's possible to go 9's with an N/A LT1 and 450 horse!

In this month's issue of Hot Rod, a guy with a '94 Z28 ran 9's @135 N/A and a stock computer. He only has 456 rear wheel horse. I would'nt believe if it wasn't documented!
Re: Apparently, it's possible to go 9's with an N/A LT1 and 450 horse!
I bet its an A4 though, which would really be at around 550 horses if its running through an A4, and 12 bolt. These add up for some good drivetrain loss.
I would bet my life on the fact that it is a N/A solid roller big cubed ( 396 etc. ) motor. With some type of awesome heads ( Like LE3 or better, Ported Trick Flows, LT4 castings, etc ... ) topped off with a sweet single plain conversion.
Do you know anything else about that car? I didnt get the magazine.
Thing sounds like a beast though.

The car made 450rwhp but the torque converter/tranny is eating up some HP. Don't get too hungup on dyno #'s b/c they can be misleading esp. when autos are involved. I have seen this car run also and it's leaves very hard. Later Clint
Re: Apparently, it's possible to go 9's with an N/A LT1 and 450 horse!
Thats freaking awesome. I've seen ricers stripped down more than that and they are street cars.
Me and my cousing built a 91 S-10 reg cab SWB pick-up , it has a stock LT1 in it with a 2500 stall, 4L60E, 3,73 rear gears, and dual exhaust. We put some stickies out back on it and it ran 12.60s very consistantly !!!
With him in it it weights 2875 #s !!!! Did I mention the LT1 was stock !!!!
That weight reduction does alot.

Why do are cars have to suck and weigh so much ...
I cant part with my bumber supports, and Ive become addicted to power steering, AC, rear seats ... etc.
