Nope, not possible. I replaced mine this past Saturday, and there is no way that's going to happen. Remove the W/P, crank pulley(you can leave the hub on there), and other associated junk and it's right there.

This thread got me thinking, would it be possible to make spacers for the waterpump and create an extra long drive shaft for the wp thinggie so that you could space the WP far enough out to get the opti on/off easily?!
It may have some clearance issues with some things.. but nothing too major.. (i dont thin)

You should be replacing the water pump while your in there anyways. You don't want that thing going out and dripping all over that new Opti.
