Anything wrong with the AC Delco 454 oil filter?

I see that they don't have the AC Delco oil filter that I'm used to using, and the parts store told me the 454 is the replacement. It is shorter than the old one.

I put it on tonight with the oil change, but it has me thinking.

Has anyone had a problem with the new 454 filter? Any AC Delco's that would be better, and why.

Its what I have. No problems here. They dont make the PF 25 anymore which is what you're probably referring to. I like to stay with AC Delco parts where I can and oil filters I use will most likely always say AC Delco on them.

HeyMan, There is nothing wrong with using the pf454 but if you would like a little extrra insurance use the pf 1218 for the 6.5 litre diesle as it has an internal check valve that will allow the engine to make instant oil pressure. it also has a bit larger canister than the 25 so you get the added bonus of more oil in your motor.

I feel better now. Thanks all.

At least it's not the size of my friend's '04 WRX oil filter. That thing is the size of a small dixie cup. No kidding.

I was going to put a PF35 on mine (b/c i still have 4 in my house from the IROC and it is too long, it would hang down below the crossmember, i don't like the idea of having the oil filter exposed to **** on the road, not saying i run over things but you never know, so i went the advance auto and i could not find an ACDelco filter so i went with the Purolator. (i guess it is the same at the 454 b/c it is shorter and fits nice in there)

I've been using the STP ST30, which is the same as the old AC Delco PF25....

I literally held the two side by side, and I feel they are LITERALLY the same filter, made by the same company on the same assembly line. Same color, exact same looking on every external part. Even the stamping on the inside surface was the same...

Anyone know if this is true? AC Delco and STP = same filters?

I agree with you grendal, I have been using the stp filter myself since there is no more PF25 and can not visually see any difference between the 2 of them.

Both are made by Champion Industries.
