? for anyone who installed a Mezire water pump

My water pump recently went out so I opted to get a electric water pump for my 96 camaro.

I have the pump all fitted and installed and all I have left to do is the wiring. I dont have any experiance at all in this area so i wanted to ask about it first to those of you that may know, or have installed this pump yourselves.

The pump I have is this meziere pump found at the following link

http://www.meziere.com/racing/electric/wp118.htm

I got it from summithill racing and they recommended I get a water pump relay kit, so I also have that. The wires in that thing seem long enough to reach the back of the car, so Im a bit worried about how far ill have to go to attach this thing to a power source. I was hoping for a bit more instructions than the "blue wire connects to positive, black wire connects to chassis ground" instructions that came with it.

I have the GM service manuals for the car, and the chilton book on it. Just wondering if anyone could tell me where in the wiring I have to splice this thing it, or has a link to maybe a online guide on how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Im also wondering what you guys did with the long hollow tube that hangs down out of hte Air Cleaner Outlet Duct that hangs down infront of the fans. This tube no longer fits because of the new electric water pump. Would it be very harmful to take it off and just cap it up?

Anyways, thanks for any help you can give.

Capping off the intake will be perfectly fine. I am in the process of doing one as well (water pump ) and what my plans are is to run the power source for the pump directly from the battery to the Relay, then run an energize wire from the main fans energize wire to (plus 12 vdc)the energize position of the relay, then run the power wire from the relay (opsite side from batt power) to the water pump power, Ground to ground position behind drivers headlight on top of radiator support. I plan on putting it in the relay center on the drivers side of the engine compartment and runn the wires through the loom behing the engine and down the drivers side to the pump.

If anyone sees a discrepancy PLEASE tell me so I can fix it as well.

for the energized splice I planned on side tapping the wire and heat shrink wrapping it just below the relay box housing in that loom, so it is unseen.

How many miles did your pump have on it before it went bad? I currently have ONLY 34K miles and I can see that there is a little rust below the weep hole. Not sure if this is any cause for alarm. I think it is way too early for the pump to be bad.
