Anyone using a 292XFI in a 396ci I need your help
I'm about to buy a new cam and I'm interested in your experiences with the 292 XFI HR cam in a 396ci LTx engine.
I started a new thread trying to find out which cam and what LSA/ICL would be best for my setup.
Here is the link, it's located in the advanced tech section: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=668344

It has been done.
I would discourage your from considering it but since you wont listen to that at least be warned you absolutely need to go with more spring than Comp tells you too. The XFI lobes are hell on springs and with Comp's rpm ranges being so far lower than reality just exagerates the problem. Not to mention the valves in your heads are likely heavier due to being bigger than anything Comp considered again meaning more spring is necessary.
You are way overthinking this cam thing though. I don't know who spec'd the old one, but 110LSA is not a problem, there could be other issues if you could post the full cam card. From what I have seen sofar though you are junping the gun blaming the cam.

First, I don't use Beehive springs, never will. There is nothing wrong with my setup at the moment and I never said I had issues with it. I just want to rev higher and get more overall TQ/HP.
This is from my first post up above in case you overlooked it.

They are all customs cams since they have to be ground as a small base circle anyway.
