Anyone try Engine Restorer in the silver can.

Has anyone tried this Engine Restorer and Lubricant in a silver can. Its supposed to restore compression, horsepower, engine life, and reduce oil consumption. Its like $8 and you add it to your engine oil every oil change. If you have used this product let me know what you think. Also is Mobil 1 extended performance 15,000 mile 5w-30 with a K+N hp-2002 a good setup for oil for my car, it has 73,000 miles and has had penzoil 5w-30 for most of its life, i think, i bought it last october.

I would not do anything to a 73k mile LT1 besides change the oil!!! Dont put any additives in there.

If the engine is shot, I'd try it. If the engine is still in good shape, I wouldn't use it. The Restore, that is.

Do a search on it here http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi basically it can make a not long for this world engine limp along a little further but that is about all the good it might do. It has NO PLACE in your car at that milage an LT1 is barely broken in. Modernfuel injected engines and their better machining do not exhibit the wear older carbed motors did. The fuel injection plays a big part in this as the overly rich warmup AFR with carbs washed oil off the cylinder walls.

From what I have heard, that engine restorer stuff does nothing unless your motor really needs it. I have always used a quart of Rislone engine treatment with every oil change. It is not a restorer like the stuff in the silver can, but is more of a cleaner for your motor. My dad had a pontiac 400 in his 67 GTO that he rebuilt back in the 80's and we just pulled it and opened it up about a year ago, and it was TOTALLY spotless . No sludge in the bottom of the oil pan. And he used the rislone at every oil change. I swear by the stuff...
