I'm sure there are. The Hot Cam makes its power (From My Expierience) low to mid range & falls off up top. The cars that have a Hot Cam & seem to run 113 - 115 mph in the 1/4 mile have been on some what of a "Diet" My cars weight is 3700# with me in it so my 110mph trap is just about all I will be able to get out of the Hot Cam. A cc306 is more suited for mid to high range resulting in monster trap speeds. It almost kind of evens out down the track ET wise. That is why a cc306 is recomended for use with m6 or a high stall (3200 at very least & up) I am sure though that a great driver & a well set up cc306 car can run quicker (ET's) than the Hot Cam but not many people seem to support that.

As far as emissions the cc306 from what I have heard is possible to pass emissions with the right tuning but the ones I have seen failed. It just runs richer because of the cam specs. I am no cam expert so I'm sure someone here can give a more technical point as to why. Or maybe I am completely wrong. Don't flame me if I am....

thanks for the info, i always see people saying the 306 wont pass but never say why? i think with cats it will pass...as far as the e.t. i dont see any 11 sec 306's with stock bottom end, even with ported heads ? maybe the 306 is just to big?also a hotcam cost 450? and a cc306 with everything you need is like 800?is the 306 worth it besides the great sounding exhaust?i would love to have a cc306 but it would suck to goto the track and lose to a hotcam.(by the et's i see on this board)maybe ill just have to get a 306 and see if it passes smog and what it will do in a auto car with a 3200 stall...one more quick question can you buy the hotcam kit without the hotcam and put in place a cc306 ..im guessing the kit without the cam shouldnt be over 300?thanks so much for all the info

Lightbulb

You can buy the Hot Cam kit then sell the cam itself for 150 bucks. That is a fair price.... Then your at 300 bucks. However I wouldn't waste my time. I'd just get the cam you want & buy everything else. With the extra lift of a big cam like a cc306 the Hot Cam kit springs won't support the big cam. Infact I think I may be encountering a bit of valve float with my Hot Cam springs with my Hot Cam. Either that or my original fuel pump isn't what it used to be....

I ran low 12's/high 11's w/ my CC306 and ghetto ported heads. It can be done... There's quite a few cars actually that run 11's w/ heads and CC306 cammed cars. As far as passing emissions.. Heh.. not likely.. Way too many HC's .

I've got an .mpeg of a 12.0 pass if you're interested - you can kinda hear it idling.. I was on some really tall tires thought and they killed my ET. Heh.. NEED MORE POWER!
