Is anyone running the Magnaflow Cat-Back??

I noticed it on Fasttoys.net and it looks pretty nice. The 3 1/2" tail pipes are very asthetically appealing, but I'm wondering how it sounds. It would be going on a car with a Hotcam and ported heads with MAC headers and ORP. the price is nice too. any sound clips???? Thanks guys!

I'm running it on my 93. I upgraded from a gutted cat and a rusty flowmaster with two 2.5"s to a Carsound cat and Magnaflow.
The car is quiter now and it doesn't sound like an old POS truck with flowmasters anymore, but as far as the difference in sound, I don't think it's much different from just a flowmaster. It looks much better though.

One of the problems I'm having with it is driveshaft clearance. The I-pipe is only like 1/16" away from the LS1 driveshaft.
I'll have see if I can do something to fix that, or I might have to go back to the steel one...

Is it lined up right in the tunnel?? I have a Random Tech on my black car, and it's a 3" I pipe, and there's plenty of room between it and the stock driveshaft. Granted, it's steel, but even the LS1 shaft would have lots of room. Or is the Magnaflow a 3 1/2" I pipe??

How was the quality of the components? Did it have to be welded to the cat, or is it a bolt on application?

Another system you may want to take a look at is the Gale Banks Stinger. I just got one from Damien over at www.torqueandchrome.com Nice sound. Nice low rumble at idle strong sound at WOT.... Well built system and all stainless... Oval tips chromed all the way back to the muffler....

The quality is good, especially for the price. (I paid $275 shipped for it, new)
It has a regular flange just like any other catback, so yes, it will bolt to the cat and you shouldn't have to weld anything else on it.

The I-pipe should be 3" or otherwise it wouldn't connect to the cat flange.

I'm thinking the shop that installed it screwed up something. I should've just installed it myself but I happened to need a new cat welded in and they offered to install the catback for $50, so I said why not.

I guess I'll just take it back for them to fix it after I'm done with the converter swap.

It looks good and sounds even better. I got mine for $300.00 at the door. Very good considering the price!

That's not the same one as the one Fasttoys is selling. I don't like the straight cut tips on it either. Thanks for the link and heads up though!!!

That is the exact same one that Fasttoys.net is selling. The tips are slash cut and the part #'s are the same ... #15620 . It's just the angle that the picture shows....but it is the exact same one. I picked mine up on ebay early this week for $280 to my door. That is an awesome price for a stainless catback.

Yeep. That's the exact one they're selling. The picture on ebay is misleading because it's not actual. That probably is an exhaust for an LS1 or something.
I got mine from performancepeddler on ebay.
Those guys are really quick just like they say.

Ask and ye shall receive!

I run the Magnaflow cat-back system on my Formula...

I have stock everything except for what's noted in my sig.

Here's the deal on the clips... Play the stock one first to get the volume set. It's hard to hear the first one because the stock system was so quiet. The 2nd clip is the magnaflow system.

I recorded BOTH clips from the same distance behind the car, used the same thing to record them (my laptop), and in both cases the laptop was centered from left to right between the tips.

I did it this way so as to get the best direct comparison possible. I have been told that my clip is the most realistic clip of the Magnaflow that people have heard... I guess I just got lucky..,,

Anyway, on to the clips:

Stock Exhaust

Magnaflow

Remember, the only thing to change was the exhaust from the cat-back on the car.

Ian,

That threw me off as well. I saw the design of the catback advertised on ebay and thought "Wow, that's a really straight-through design." Can the actual 15620 catback be classified as "straight through" ? This might tip me back towards the SLP 2OTL if the magnaflow has flow issues... But man, it sure looks hot. I might just opt for the catback and then get a cutout later on.
