Anyone running the 209/217 Isky cam

Just trying to get some opinions on this cam. Did a search and found no results... The complete specs are
.465 .485 valve lash hot int. ex. .000 .000 adv. duration int. ex. 257° 265° .050 duration int. ex. 209° 217° lobe center 112° Seem good for daily with a 125 shot once an awhile? Also I dont plain on doing heads because I bought some afr 210s.

I never heard of that cam before but run a similar one, a GMPP ZZ4 crate motor cam specs are 208/221 .474/.510 with 1.5 and it is also on a 112. I like it, manners and sound can be easily mistaken for stock b-body cam(smaller yet than your stocker) even by fellow gearheads. If you are willing to put up with some "cammed" manners then maybe look a little bigger, if you still want that one then maybe consider the ZZ4 cam, it has a little more lift and is probably cheaper, well under $200 last I looked.

Re: Anyone running the 209/217 Isky cam

I would get the Crane cam that is similar to that cam, except it has more lift in it.

Duration @ .050 210/224
LSA 112
Lift ~.5 on both sides with 1.5 ratio

This is the cam I have in my SS and it is very tame, almost like stock but you can hear it if you are paying attention. You can get it from GMPP too.

Yea but i only paid 65$ for the cam and lifters which have 5k on em. Why pay another 200$ more for basically the same thing just looking to see if it gonna give me a nice torque monster.

should give you a reasonable boost in power, maybe throw some 1.6 rockers on it. the lift will (should) be under the max lift of the springs, and you'll pick up a little more hp.

either some well priced roller tip 1.6 rockers or maybe some more $$ full roller rockers.

just my opinion

I was gonna use the 1.7s i plained on swapping in... So the lift #'s should be perfect for stock heads

I'm happy with my 210/224.

This is a roller cam right? I ask because of one the low lift and two it is perfectly acceptable to reuse roller lifters with a different cam so I seems odd someone swapped lifters again with such low milage.

Considering your doing heads, especially AFRs, you may want to consider going a bit larger with your cam. Most people on here that start with a small cam wish that they would have gone bigger soon after. I did the hotcam, and although it was a nice power gain, tunned it still drives like the stock cam, & gets great gas mileage. Larger cam = more power, at least with the heads your going to be running. With propper tunning, a fairly large cam will still drive very tame.

This is a misconception.

My car with ported LT1 castings flowing less then LE's, 210/224 112 cam 1.5/1.6RRs, SLP headers, 58mm TB, all flowing through stock y-pipe with cats put down 310rwhp 330rwtq. With a set of lts and O/R y-pipe, my car could easily turn 340rwhp. The nice thing about the cam is that it doesn't die until ~5k rpms, but that is mostly due to the cats. I think you could suprise a lot of people with that cam/heads and some lts with a O/R y-pipe.
