Yikes! Where did you get "The Right Stuff" at? Sounds like I better invest in some of that. The RTV sealant we used worked alright but there was still a little leakage around the timing cover.

Also - I think we have a new theory! The oil pan that I had was dented in about 1/2" about 8 inches away from the timing cover... which is directly under the oil pickup tube. We're wondering if there wasn't enough clearance between the oil pan and the pickup tube and that could have caused us to have oil issues and then made everything worse. There was fuel in the oil - no doubt about it, but I think between the fuel in the oil and the dent in the oil pan that explains all the issues?

You can pick up "The Right Stuff" at Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc.

I'm no engine expert, but what would happen if the rings don't "seat"? Would you get excessive gas in the oil?

I'm definitely no engine expert either so I'm not sure. When I started my v6 to v8 engine swap I barely had turned a wrench on my car. The guy said it had 60k on the motor but without anything to prove that we don't know. I'm wondering if the car had higher mileage and maybe the piston rings weren't sealing like you said and it allowed abnormal amount of gas in the oil? Or maybe since the engine sat for about a year and a half that the rings started being ****ty. I don't know - even the tuner that recalibrated my plugs said I should have had a little gas washing past the rings but not enough that it made my oil level raise up on the dipstick when we kept checking it.
