Thats not really the sound of borla when its wide open. Its just the sound of a cut-out that is placed far back in the exhaust system.

yea, but its built into the borla system
Thats how I run mine, I like it loud. I guess it would be nice to get it to go through the muffler and stay that loud.

Re: Anyone with Long Tubes and Borla Catback?

I have Pacesetter coated LT's, Pacesetter ORY and Borla cat-back with a DMH cutout in place of the "adjustable plate" system. I can either direct it all through the muffler or let it go straight out the back. No sound clips as of yet....but I'd like to get some.

What i am saying is that your not actually hearing the sound of borla, through the muffler, you are just hearing an exhaust system with a cut-out. If you want to hear borla throught the muffler you have to find a clip that says closed cut-out.

I don't think that is really "hating." Rather, just someone who doesn't like the sound of a Borla system. I personally think that LT1 posted above sounds horrible too...

I've said it once and I'll say it again...I like the sound of a Borla cat-back on a car with stock manifolds or shorty/Mid-length headers + a catalytic converter...Longtubes just take away the deeper tone it used to have...And without cats, talk about rasp city.

Unless you want to buy the Borla system to actually run it (or most of it) through the muffler and like the tips, I see no point in paying $600+ to just run it wide-open...A cheap $35.00 Flowtech cutout does the same exact thing...I just think of it as a little deeper version of a wide-open Borla, LOL. And you can always cap it when you want to run your exhaust through the muffler you have...

Buy what you like though folks,

Mike

LOL, that's a fair statement...considering you'd hear my car from several car lengths behind anyway

I agree with you regarding the sans cats sound...but I apply that across the board on any LT1 f-body. Comparing the $35 cut out to a Borla really isn't fair either...most Borla owners run one of the plates supplied with the kit (it's neither fully open or fully closed) and buy the quality of the cat-back kit. BTW, the capped Borla is pretty deep sounding, even with long tubes.

To each his own, as the 'sound' issue is all relative and opinionated anyway.
