How is everyone doing that when my Haynes manual says the most you can take off the head is .010?

I'm using them too, but I had one problem with them. The coating on the gasket stuck to the packaging and pulled off when I opened it. I drove to Summit and had them open another package so I could get two goodones.

Could have been a one time problem though with the packaging process.

Not a one time problem... a few months ago I used my first set of these & had the same issue. This month alone I've used two sets of em & went through the same thing again. I've had to use 6 pairs to get 3 pairs of good ones. Unfortunately Summit isnt in driving distance from here...

I called Mr. Gasket, and they said that if some of the coating comes off, it doesnt make a difference, I ran mine like that, and no problems..

All of the ones I had here had places where the coating came off 100% right down to the metal. Personally I would not take the chance use them like that even though they might be fine. Since Summit is willing to replace them for free allowing me to use the one good gasket from each package I will

oh, mine didnt go to the metal, just took some of the shiny black coating off, and left it like a satin black.
