it isnt worth it, sell your LT1 and go buy an LS1 car. you'll need to change more than just the motor. cross member/k frame is also different, tranny is different for the LS1 motor, motor mounts, harness, PCM, amongst several other small parts.

Its not that much work really, as long as there nothign Im not thinking of. I work on Camaros/Firebirds for a living

Just making sure there is nothing Im forgetting. Already have motor, trans, McLeod clutch, shifter, PCM, engine harness (think ll need a body control harnessfor ABS etc)

Want to see if it wil physically go in and go from there. I dont think Ill be running a MAF, So I could probably come up with a way to use the factory SS intake, if not go with some kind of lid setup, that will fit with all the LS1 shrouding right?

Cool

Unless you have a totaled LS1 in your yard, I don't think it would be worth it. You could practically buy a LS1 equiped car for what your gonna spend for all the necessary parts.

He already has the majority of the parts and has already spent the money, so who cares who thinks it's worth it and who doesn't. The question wasn't "do you think it's worth it for me to swap to an LS1?"

I dont have any money.. but lots of stuff

I have a 97 street car a 99 racecar, and an LT1 woudl be easier to deal with in the racecar, and the rpm limited LS1 motor with a hyd cam in the street car makes sense.

Like i said, I know every single nut and bolt in these cars, but fi it doesnt have to do with performance (liek the gauges, ABS harness etc) i dont know much about differences

I do know that in 01-02 cars they changed the bolt they use to hold on the backing plates, but i dont have any stupid knowedge on misc electrical/sensor stuff

You've got an LT1 in your 99 race car and an LS1 in your 97 street car? Seems a little BassAckwards to me.

The LS1 will fit under the LT1 hood, but good luck getting everything else to bolt up right.
