Anyone know how to check engine codes without scanner?
Anyone know how to check engine codes without scanner?
I was told you can use a paperclip and short out a circuit in the plug and the SES light will blink numerous times at a certian pulse?
IS this true. I was told by my tuner who is about 30 miles away. HE sad to do this and tell him what code it was.
Also he said that the 1st code will be like 12 or something cause of the short IDL circuit?
Well let me know if anyone has a writeup on this.
thanks

Re: Anyone know how to check engine codes without scanner?
that only works on the 93 fbody and older...
the 94s were not readable by that method. you need a scanner.
call around to the local shops...slip the guy a 20 and he may pull the code for you.

He is correct only works on my old school 93 that I have, you would wish you did not have a 93 ecm if you had one anyways.
That being said 94 and up needs to be pulled by some form of scanner, hit up a autozone they pull codes for free.
