Anyone here run a crank trigger?

I've noticed mant of the LT1 cars that run in the super stock type classes in the NHRA run crank trigger systems. My guess is because the opti can hold up with the extreme revs.

My question is, do you think there is a way to adapt the crank trigger system with the Delteq unit? Or does the crank trigger operate in a much different fashion in dertermining and sending the timing data?

Re: Anyone here run a crank trigger?

i have been told delteq is working on a crank trigger setup. i think most of the nhra guys are probably running a gen 7 dfi or something similar. thats probably why they are able to use a crank trigger. that is what i am waiting for as well. the delteq will kick *** and will work fine at high rpm, just take the rotor out of the optispark.

Thanks for the info. Is this hard to do? Is there a large risk of messing up the opti cracking it open?

the opti is just like any other distributor in that reguard. pull the cap and pull the rotor. the only reason you do that is to keep the rotor from exploding at high rpm from being on a vertical plane. that rotor has to deal with a lot more stress then the rotor in a normal distributor because half way thru its cycle its following gravity and then in an instant its fighting gravity thru the other half of its cycle. thats gotta suck.
