Anyone have any of AI's cam only packages?

Thinking about going with one of AI's cam packages since they come with everything and all of their other products have proven well from what I see, but i've never seen anyone with any of their cam packages.

i have only seen one, but the guy have very good results. It laid down 360rwhp and 350rwtq. The guy had every bolt on except a ewp (i think) and a ported intake manifold. I think out of the 5 cams they offer he had the 3rd biggest. Around 220/230 dur.

But the car was a m6/10 bolt with 3.42's so it puts down the best possible numbers. A 3600 stalled auto with 3.73 and a 9 inch would most likely eat up 30-35hp but probably would run times of a 360rwhp/350rwtq car. So if your setup is going to be like that dont get hung up on dyno numbers.

If i was doing a cam only car it would have something from AI, llyod (if he would just do a cam alone) or a cc503.

yea i'm probably going to go with AI just because of the mere factor that they give me everything else as far as rocker arms etc. and i don't have to worry about putting that stuff together on my own.

Amen to that!

Many people don't understand that time is money. We have all wasted time and money by mixing and matching parts that shouldn't go together. Just do it right the first time.

I'm looking to do a cam only upgrade also, and I would like a complete package. What is AI? Can someone give me a link?

Cam only...big waste of time.

You have to pull everything off the front of the engine for the cam...might as well do the heads while you are at it.

Now if you had an LS1...they have good heads out of the box so cam only makes alot more sense.

There are many factors that go into a cars performance....cam only cars are a waste of time and coin.

Not sure how you can say that and really mean it when there are plenty of them running in the low 12s or faster and making 100+ more rwhp than stock.

By that principle, a heads/cam car is a waste of money and time also because you haven't built the shortblock.

I think he saying that going threw all the BS and only putting in a cam is the idea that hes trying to get across. If you going to do that much to a motor why not take it all the way with heads.
When you see guys running high 11's or low low 12's with cam only cars you have to think about the whole setup. The whole setup is whatis responsibile for taking the car down the track so quick. Not just the motor. Without the cam those cars would still run very well just .3-.5 slower @ 1-2mph less.

Overall the cam only guys running that fast are far and few. So dont build the same motor and be pissed if you only click off 12.60's with it and so and so ran 12.10's. Some cases those guys are great drivers, which is another reason for their times.
So if you want a car that will run 12.00's you better get a set of heads along with your cam or dont expect it to run that quick.
Too many people see someones sig and think if they buy the same parts and think they will be able to replicate the result. No F ing way. Get with the picture.

yea if your comparing pennies to pennies, then cam only cars are probably the most bang for your buck. If you compare Javier's stats he went from 13.8 to 12 flat. So thats almost 2 whole seconds off a quarter mile E.T. Now cam only, including a clutch upgrade will run you roughly around 1800. Now compare that to a head and cam package, in which case, comparing apples to apples, AI offers a complete setup that will run you around 3000, then you need a clutch, injectors, and most likely a rear. From what I've seen your paying around 4500 not including any rear end work and getting a low 11 second car compared to paying only 1800 and getting a low 12 second car.

your gonna pay at least double, maybe more for heads and cam with the upgrades. Plus when yuor putting that kind of horse power down, you need to beef up the drivetrain which is even more costly. A cam package, clutch, gears, bolt-ons, lower control arms, and some DR's is all it takes.. as long as you know enough to set up your car properly and drive.

I have been around the LT1 world for a long time...if you are going to go through the process of installing a cam, you would be a fool not to throw on a set of heads.

What happens is called internet racing...one guy does it , thus, I can. The problem there very few people really are willing to buy the parts and then work it out. Cars are not lego blocks.

You see someone running 12.0's...thus, everyone should, I mean racing in negative DA conditions, great track, great prep, good driver...that means nothing, someone ran 12.0, thus I can.

Heck, I have two sets of LT1 ported heads for sell right now that I can't give away....cheap.
