I use Zerex coolant. I mix it 50/50 with distilled water because it's the concentrated one and you're supposed to mix it. I also use a bottle of Redline Watter Wetter.

As for flushing, I always take mine out then go to a pressure car wash and flush it with a hose. (both inside and outside)
Works great for removing all the dirt from inside and all the crap stuck between the fins on the outside.

PS. Make sure you plug the tranny cooler holes if you have an auto before you spray it with a hose.

You can get a special adapter at kmart/walmart that gets a lot of pressure into the line. What i do is empty the system as best i can (petcock valve. remove some hoses, and dump the reservoir that sits under the battery). I then run water through it a lot and empty again repeating this a few times. Put everything back together and fill with 50/50 water/antifreeze. Ive used dexcool and if also used peaks lifetime compatible with anything both worked well i guess.

Take the radiator out and use a high pressure hose attachment on that thing!

You can do it in the car, but make sure you don't spray the engine with water or this will turn into a big mess quickly.

The reason I do it outside of the car is because (it only takes me a few minutes to remove the radiator...it's really easy especially on M6 cars) I like to remove the dirt from the fins. It helps keeping the temperatures cooler.

Re: anyone flush their own radiator?

Get the Preston Radiator Flush kit from Wal-mart, it's like $6. You hook a hose up to it, and stick this spout on the top of the radiator. you turn on the hose and it flushes it out. I turned the engine on and reved it up with the hose running until it was completely clean. i also removed my thermostat before doing this so the water completely flowed through. Be sure to jam a hose in the resivoir and clean out all of the mud in there. There will be alot.
