Anyone familiar with this LT4 kit?

Im thinking bout ordering this kit:

Summit LT4 Kit

Would like some feedback on it. This would be my first major engine mod. Would this kit really bump up the HP to 425? Also my oil pressure gets a bit low sometimes. would this improve the oil pressure or it has nothing to do with it?

Thanx!

on average, I've seen around 360 rwhp form this so theoretically through drivetrain loss, it will be around 425 engine hp. For the money, you can definetly get more HP than that. Its a solid kit, but not the best for the money.

About your Oil pressure, I'm pretty sure your oil pump and filter would have more to do with this. I didnt see much of a change in Oil Pressure after doing the Hot Cam Kit

If you did that kit along with your current mods you would need a good set of headers too (midlengths or lontubes) to see those kind of numbers (350-360rwhp/425 fwhp) that along with a good tune. It's a pretty nice package but as mentioned you can make more power for less money than that. Having your stock heads ported by Lloyd or AI along with a cam that they recommend would likely be cheaper than that package and make more power.

lt4 heads aren't worth it. you can get much more out of your lt1 heads by porting and polishing them. you can get a hotcam/spring/rocker kit for about 475 i believe and then use the leftover money to get you heads hogged out. like suggested before headers are basically a must if you want full power.

as for you pressure it really doesn't have a lot to do with it. remember that most lt1s run about 18-22 psi warm in gear at a stoplight. while cruising it should be around 45-60

While I love the LT4, I would recommend anyone with an LT1 just get a cam and get your stock heads ported. It will cost less and make more power.

Having said that, the LT4 kit can make great power, shoot my bone stock LT4 (no hotcam) makes 311RWHP. I've seen plenty of cars with the LT4 kit (includes the hotcam) make 330RWHP through stock exhaust manifolds and 350-360RWHP with all the bolt ons and headers.
