Anyone ever attempt an LT5 conversion?

I was just wondering if anyone ever attempted something of that nature and discovered any real justification perusing this conversion?

or am i totaly wrong and the LT5 is an entirely different engine from an LT1 and it would be impossible?

.....or is this impossible due to the fact that no one makes the components needed for this.....

BTW i'm not confusing this with the LT4 conversion.

After finding prices on LT5 parts, I'd say it would be a waste of money and time...

Do a search. This has been discussed before. The LT5 is a totally different engine. Not very feasible.

I remember once seeing a guy with a LT1 type Black Vette but with an LT5 conversion at a GTG once in Grapevine, TX. Its a whole different story once you see them up close.

.....dah...i found this on another post concerning such a venture:

BTW: There was a Z06 ZR-1 shootout.... They used the 1991 385hp ZR-1 (1993 the bumped it to 405) and a Stock Z06..... The ZR-1 was going stride for stride with the Z06... Beat it down the 1/4 , has more topend and was right along side it with handling.... That was the 91... to bad they didnt use the 95 more refined ZR-1....
......sorry bout starting another thread about this, however, i did do a search for it but i found nothing. I musta messed it up that time cuz i found this after i tryed it again upon the recomendation of Shoebox.

Stock for stock, Z06 and ZR-1 s put out about the same power to the ground...

The Z06 handles MUCH better than the ZR-1 from tests I've seen....acceleration, it's all in the driver I think.

But yeah, unless you're doing it for show, there's no reason to put in an LT5, it's a DOHC modular design, so it's completely different, and a cammed LT1 with LTs will put out as much power as a stock LT5. Performance wise, you're better off modding an LT1, getting some ported LT4 heads and intake, and a nice cam to go along with it.
