Just like it says, my shifter will pop back and out of third gear sometimes. It happens as soon as I let the clutch out. At first I thought I was just not used to the new car or the factory shifter just sucked. Well the factory shifter does suck so I put in a Pro 5.0. I have been driving it long enough now that I know I am not shifting poorly anymore. Is it comon on these cars to bend the third gear shift fork? Has anyone else had this problem, what is the fix?

 

i think it might be the synchros...my S10 is doin it too...i think i powershifted 3rd too many times in my S10

 

hey! i had the same problem with my 95Z. i ended up having the tranny rebuilt with new syncros. picked up the car when it was done... STILL popped out of third! read here on the board that it might just be the shift fork. so i ordered the fork, and had the tranny place take apart my tranny again!! picked it up when it was done.... never popped out again!!

either way the tranny has to be taken out and opened up. just make sure everything is replaced INCLUDING the shift fork!!!! hope this helped a little!
