Question Anyone? Crane 210/224 Dyno Curve??? (POWERMAX 2033, FORMERLY COMPUCAM 2033)

I've looked all over, and can't seem to find a dyno curve for this cam. It seems to have a lot of the features that I am looking for, but I can't tell without seeing what the TQ curve looks like.

Anyone dyno this cam?

I have dyno curves of the other cams that I'm considering(XE218/224, CC305, Hotcam), but not this one.

Thanks,
Dan

In my car I only made 305 rwhp with this cam, however, my engine was already losing compression, the heads were horrible, and it has always been plagued by exhaust leaks. That cam made 305 rwhp at 5300 rpm in my crappy engine and maintained above 290rwhp all the way to 6300 rpm. With good heads I am sure it would have made 30-35 more rwhp and instead of dying up top it would have made that flat curve upwards.

I ran a 12.99 at 107 on futura tires and 3.42 gears on that craptastic setup. I think I'm going with a 218/224 XE now and some Edelbrock heads. I just want some more power and torque.

The Crane 210/224 is a great street/driver cam. With the mods below, I made 348rwhp/348rwtq with oem tune. The best part is not the peak numbers but the fat, flat TQ curve. This is a high bottom end TQ cam. I shut the engine down at 6k but the HP curve was still climbing!

Unfortunately, the cam and lifters gauled due I believe to the wrong, binding springs I had at the time or I would have never changed cams.

I haven't dyno'd since I replaced the 210/224 with the XE218/224.

How's it feel now with the 218/224? How noticeable is the power increase?

If you don't mind me asking, what were the wrong binding springs?

Hey Don 97 SS: How's that new cam working out compared to the 210/224. I'm still running the 210/224 and am quite happy with it.

Just curious.

I'd like to see a graph too. I posted this same topic a few weeks ago with no luck.

Don: I'm curious about the springs too.

Truedual: seems like I we keep popping up in the same threads lately. What have you decided with the springs. I found some info on the impala boards re: Comp 918 spring seats for the LT-1. I think it was you who posted the info

Hi, Bubba, how have you been?

To respond to you and the other's questions, I installed the new CC502 cam and CC850 lifters, GMPP ED timing set and a Dynatech Opti over a year ago. The combo is fine and runs strong. I can't say I noticed any significant power increase as my butt-dyno is not very precise. One's not going to notice 10-20hp gain IMHPO. I don't take my car to the track so I don't have any time slips to compare either. I'll bet there is not much difference. The 210/224 is a fine cam, I installed the 218/224 just for a change and perhaps to get a small gain. But I like the characteristics/benefits of these smaller cams for my driver.

I have a dynograph but not a electronic version or the means to post it.

The springs were CC941s and I did have a different set in before. I am not sure what actually caused the damage. Oil pressure is fine and I used synth and change it regularly. As I recall they are only rated to .500" I have the Crane dual 99893 springs now that are good to .600".

Yep, I think we should form a baby cam club or a beehive valve
spring club. What I have so far is Comp 26915 springs, 787-16
retainers and 648-16 locks. As for spring seats I'm not using the
LT4s because I don't like the fit. I bought a set of Manley seats
and will grind the OD down to 1.33". According to my best guess
the installed height will be 1.76", a seat pressure of 120 and a
nose pressure of 290.

No. When I think of quality RRs I tend to think of ss full rollers by Crower and Comp. When I think of a ratios on an LT1, I think of 1.6.

Why do you mention Scorpion in a 1.7 ratio?

1.7s on that cam would be .543/.587, I do not know all the specs on the aluminum heads, but would guess that that much lift is wasted on stock heads if they can even handle that much. There is more to power than just lift and lifting the valve too far can actually get it to the point of diminished flow.

FWIW: That "really mild" cam has seen 11s in some cars.

On the b-body top E.T. page the top 4 heads/cam cars are seperated by less than 3 tenths/3mph in this order they are 306 cam, 845, 227, ZZ3, those other 3 are signifigantly smaller than the 306, maybe it is because average numbers are more important than peak.
I have the ZZ3 in my car and even guys that know it is there say it sounds stock so yes it is very mild but mild does not mean slow.
