Question Anyone with an Aftermarket Y-pipe

Did you notice any additional engine bay noise after your Y-pipe install?

Just got my car back (had a Borla y-pipe/Random Tech CAT, and 02 sensors installed). They did not have any fitment issues, they said everything bolted up just fine. However, under heavy acceleration, I hear a slight "ticking" comming from the engine bay. At idle, I don't hear anything, and under a slight load, or even revving the engine in neutral I don't hear anything either; just under heavy load.

I figure this just may be the fact that it flows that much better than stock, but I'm not sure.

Just was curious if you noticed anything other than a slightly deeper exhaust note in the back.

Simply, is this normal?

Thanks.

I have an SLP Y Pipe, i only got it because it was cheap on ebay. I know one member on this site claimed 6 rwhp with his borla y pipe. Gains are not out of the question. I did not hear any more noise in my engine bay though.

The "ticking" you're describing sounds like an exhaust leak...

Okay, I'm pretty sure I've got an exhaust leak where the manifolds meet the y-pipe.

What are my options since they pretty much just bolt together?

whats the point of getting a different y pipe instead of just headers with a y pipe? it is cheap and i may be interested in getting one if it is worth it when i change my cat

I used "dead soft" aluminum flange gaskets no leaks and are reusable cost $24.00 at discount auto.
