Question Anybody use Corvette Magnesium Valve Covers?

Just wondering if anyone has used them on their LT1, possibly with 1.6 rockers?

I never knew they made Magnesium valve covers. I know they make black composite ones. Do you have a link to the covers??

can't say I have any experience with those, but two big thumbs up for the black composite ones!

The ones he is talking about are the ones that came on the L98 vettes (up to 91?). They are unpainted cast magnesium and are a reddish brown rust color from the oxydation of the magnesium. I think they cause problems with anything other than stock rockers, because they won't clear. I don't know any reason why you couldn't use them on a stock LT1.

I believe they were only available on or up to the '92 Vette.

I remember seeing somewhere in literature from Comp that they won't fit. You might ask Comp to make sure. Other than that, try it and see. I know you have to mod the stock LT1 covers to get them to work, since it's pretty close. The cast covers are thicker, so that may be where the problem comes in.

The magnesium covers were available on the 92 Vette with the LT1, so I imagine they would fit on any year LT1 f-body, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks guys, I just said to hell with it and ordered new LT4 covers. If anybody was interested in the Corvette Magnesium covers there were a couple of sets on ebay for about $75.
