Anybody with SLP dual cat shorties AND 1" header bolts...

I was just curious, how did you get the last 3 bolts on the passenger side started. I can't seem to get them in because the primary is in the way. I am just tweaking or will they go in??

the only one i had a problem with was the very last one. I had to force it in before i put the header up into the car. I think i had to tap it with a scew driver and a hammer.

Which ever ones you are having troube with just put them in the holes in the header before you put the header into the car.

Dammit... So I have to take that **** off again... Oh well I haven't taken any shortcuts yet I might as well do it right. I was thinking that was the solution but I just didn't want to do it

So did you get the last one or did you use a 3/4 inch bolt?

I noticed an ok gain by doing the headers and keeping the stock y and cats. When i went with the off road pipe i noticed a pretty big difference in feel. Havent been to the track yet without the cats. I lost about 2 tenths with just the headers and gained a couple mph.

For emissions i am just going to bolt in my stock y-pipe with the cats.

What part of cincy are you in, i grew up in west chester and graduated from Lakota West High School.

Damn I finally got the 4'th bolt in... I could get it started but when I need to take the wrench off it moves the bolt out of position. I have 12 point bolt heads so you have to use the closed end of the wrench. I ended up using my dremel to chop the closed 12 pt part of the wrench so it is open and it worked smoothly =) I'm going to try to get the 1" bolts for the last 2 holes on the passenger side but if they don't go easy I'm going to just throw a couple of my old stage 8's on with the locks.

I felt a nice gain with the SLP Dual Cat shorties. The Random Dual Cat Y Pipe which flows 10% better than stock works very well with these headers and has much less reverb on deceleration. I'd say 20 hp with the combination.

hm.....well i currently have the SLP LM exhaust and it sounds great with cats and stock manifolds....if i went with the dual cat SLP shorties and the random y pipe....would i be lookin at my car being much louder or raspy at all? There is a sound ordinance in west chester...up to 1,000....ha cops already give me bad looks and follow me for the loudmouth....

thanks again...and 96ws6...hope everything worked out for you....

When i was in west chester the cops didnt really care about anything, it was always the mason cops you had to look out for. West Chester cops i always thought were cool.

If you do a y-pipe with cats i dont think your car will be too loud, cats seem like they are almost mufflers. I cant say for sure though, ive never heard one of those y-pipes.

Just dont pipe it when going through Wetherington.

The shorties and random pipe are not noisy at all.The headers have a little more ring to them vs the muffled manifolds but its a very pleasing sound almost like a bike. How loud it is depends on your muffler or catback. I put a spiral twister bullet in the I pipe which took all the drone out of my magnaflow but then im 45 and don't want a droning noisy car.

I got 11 bolts in while the header was already bolted up. The last one on the passenger side is the only one giving me trouble so I'm going to use one of my stage 8's for that hole. That also happens to be the one that always gave me problems with backing out so the lock should help... Thanks.

Hey Tires_smokin, I have a 97 dual cat car and I just put an offroad pipe on it from summit racing made by stainlessworks. I got the aluminized one for 199 and don't forget the O2 simulators or you can get the stainless one for 299. Fit good but I welded it together instead of using clamps. Jchevy has the exact same brand) Check www.summitracing.com
