Just wondering if anyone else saw the ford vs. chevy shootout w/a blown 4.6 ford cobra engine vs. an LT1. It was pretty cool. They ran fast fuel injection on both, minus all accessories, except of course the wp on the LT1, and dyno headers. The N/A LT1 made 363 hp and 391 ft. lbs of torque on an engine dyno. I thought it was pretty impressive! I thought I'd bring it up here and see what you guys thought about it. It was in the December '04 issue.

Don't think you can get to it via the 'net, I've got the magazine in front of me. The cobra engine made 369hp and 377 torque, but the LT1 way beat it all the way up to 4900 rpm. Blown the Cobra engine made 461 ft lbs and 501 horses. They sprayed the LT1 with a 125 zex shot and made 501 horses and 566 lb ft of torque, but they sprayed it at about 3600, so it layed a major whoopin on the cobra engine all the way up to the top. The Cobra engine was on '03. Both used 36lb injectors, but they went up to 65 lb injectors on the ford when they bolted the blower back on. The header primaries were 1 5/8 inches. Both were run with stock throttle bodies and internals.

 

You see, even Chevy's "old technology" is superior than ford. I would rather have the 14ft lbs more of the lt1 than the 6 more hp. And I would deffinatly rather have the 100+ more ft. lbs from the LT1 with identicle hp Not to mention the sound.

 

Not to mention these numbers are just peaks, the LT1 beat the 4.6 all the way up 'til the 5k rpm range both times, by a large margin, by about 50 hp at 3300 rpm, and even more torque-wise.
