. Are these self-aligning (SA) or NSA. If your don't have guideplates, than you have SA.

Well I don't relly have a way to record the sound..they are self-aligning, I used the Crane 10308 double spring kit. Cam was brand new, rockers and springs were brand new....pushrods and lifters were reused (80,000) miles on them. I adjusted the rockers per shoeboxes instructions (crank 1/4 turn method). I tightened poly locks down until pushrod movement was gone, then tightened another 1/2 turn. Put on valve covers and never looked back. Maybe I was just lucky!!

I figured this thread was best to continue this question.
My setup sounds like a sewing machine too. Comp High Energy lifters, ProMag 1.6sa. Car is running perfect. I adjusted the valves cold and engine not running. So, my question is, can these lifters have the ticking adjusted out of them? or is this just how they sound?

Thanks Rob, glad to hear that is the nature of these rather than a poor adjustment. Same thing with non self aligning? They are just as noisey?
