Anybody running the Canton Road Race oil pan in their car?

I was about 10 minutes away from ordering a Milodon oil pan for the car, but someone told me to look at Canton products. Canton has a road race style oil pan that they say works well for all around performance. The cool thing about this pan as opposed to others I've seen, is that it is somewhat designed for the 82-02 F-chassis, and has provisions for the factory low oil level sensor.

On their site it says the motor mounts *may* need to be shimmed on some cars, but otherwise it fits. I'm wondering if anyone on here is using this pan, how they like it, and if there are any fitment issues with steering components, hooker long tubes, or LT4 starters.

I got some 1/8" thick torque washer's and longer bolts from the bolt house. Put 2 between the engine block and the mount on each bolt.
Couldn't run the low oil sender,they make a plug for it.Hedman LT's won't clear.

Thanks for the quick response. Hedman LT's won't fit with the low oil level sender, or Hedman LT's won't fit with the pan itself?

Yeah but you only need to worry about that if you have a need for 1 7/8 headers!

I run these as standard fare on motors, makes life easier.

They definately ain't playing. That yellow camero in the first clip has a 762 Fulton BB with a butt load of hose. The other one is a 421" SBC with a truck load of hose.
And to let everybody know these ain't Pro Mod's these are real 10" and 10.5" tire cars that are in the mid to low 4's in the 1/8 mile.
David was walking on wood all weekend.

Re: Anybody running the Canton Road Race oil pan in their car?

When I put my Canton oil pan in years ago it fit fine and with Hooker LT's, every was cake and decent.

Then the last time I took my motor out...I noticed a wear pattern on the bottom of the oil pan. The power steering assembly had been rubbing badly on the pan. I am glad I noticed this because I am sure at some point it would have went thru.

So I ordered a BMR k-member that was custom by lowering the power steering assembly down 1/2" more than normal. Fixed that.

Now I am running Kook's 1-3/4" stepped to 1-7/8" and there is probably .050" clearance with the low oil sensor out...that close.

Next time around I will be looking for a deep drag racing oil pan.

Great info, thanks! Did you use some sort of spacers on the motor mounts, or did you just bolt everything up before you noticed the wear on the bottom of the pan?

Also, I didn't know where to find these pans, I did a google search and saw them listed for $340 for the pan, plus $35 for the pickup. Anyone know a better spot to get these things or is that a good price?

Re: Anybody running the Canton Road Race oil pan in their car?

I knew down the line I would be running something along the lines of a TH-400 and had a worry about the tunnel...tranny shields...flexplate shields...and the stuff not fitting so raising the motor up with spaces would not benefit I.

Now you have a reason to get a nice, give you tons more room k-member

Re: Anybody running the Canton Road Race oil pan in their car?

I wanted to get a tubular K-member, and actually found one that had never been installed in the for sale section for $400 shipped (BMR). The guy apparently didn't want to sell it as bad as I wanted to buy it though Unfortunately, it's not in the budget anymore. Later on when I get some more money I want to do the tubular K-member with the matching A-arms and a nice drag suspension setup.

I guess I'm going to order the pan today. Everyone seems to have better things to say about this one as opposed to the Milodon pan I was looking at.
