anybody have a guide for changing the wiper/turn signal switch?

i am having a bitch of a time with this stupid thing. there is a yellow plastic piece that is holding steering column shell on. the only way i can see to get it off is to take apart the yellow thing. but the screws are so tiny, i have nothing that fits it.
and how are the wires and the connector supposed to slide through the tiny wire area on the bottom of the steering column? do i have to dismantle the whole dash to get this in?

I have not removed one, but all you are supposed to have to do is disconnect the plug and pull straight out on the lever to remove it.

I just replaced mine, simply pull the old one out. Remove the small cover piece in the rear (near tilt arm) and plug in new wires VERY easy and takes less then 2 minutes to do.

have to buy a whole switch thing. its actually two separate parts, but you can only order it as the switch. kind of gay, but oh well. it cost $125.

That part is only ~$55 wholesale at the dealer. Get it from Dal or Jason.

GM PART # 26020950

Yeah, you have to go a long ways into the column to get to that one.

Sorry, thought you had been around here long enought to know about them. Even gmpartsdirect would have been cheaper.

Wholesale prices are close to ½ of what you will pay over-the-counter at a dealer (retail). That's one way the shops make their money.

If you ever want to buy GM parts, use either of the guys below. Wholesale prices and no rip-off shipping.

i am having incredible difficulty getting part #5 in. ive got everything pushed down as far as it will go, but the groove is still some distance away. its almost as if the shaft has sunk in. weve pushed it out from under the hood, but it doesnt seem to be making a difference.

can anybody help?

Normally, you have to use a tool to depress the lock plate, so the retainer can be re-installed (I guess you did not use one to take it out?). You should also make sure nothing is behind there that would keep it from depressing enough.

im pretty sure its depressed far enough. its far enough down that its hitting the plastic shroud from the cover. its almost like the shaft has sunk in or something.

we didnt use a tool to take it out, just screwdrivers.
