Anybody have this cold air kit?

Just wondering if anyone has this kit.

Not a bad price, but what about quality?

Looks like something you could make cheaper. Do a search on homemade c.a.i.'s you would probably be better off.

It's basically a piece of powdercoated exhaust tubing. The block off plate is a nice touch. Probably not as big in cross section as one of the plastic CAIs but at $80 maybe it's worth it. It appears to have an air pump hookup but it's hard to tell for sure.

I got a generic one like that on ebay for 40 bucks. Its polished, but the hood kinda rubs it so its scratched there. other than that, will give you the 10hp that any other CAI will, good throttle response and sound. no complaints from me

9TransAM4, did you get your cai direct from LPE? Do you have a link or pic of it?

the ad says it's 3.5" tubing, which is plenty big. the maf sensor is only 75mm which is about 2.953", so the cai tube wouldn't be a restriction. for that price it's about the same as a homemade one, but it's mandrel bent and doesn't have the PVC 90* elbow connector that kindda looks like crap in my opinion.

i'd say it's a good deal

Having gone this route, I'll say it's more expensive to aquire the stuff and put the time in to assemble it than it is to purchase this kit (if it uses quality parts). A 3.5" 90* mandrel bend costs $40 plus shipping if you can find one with long enough ends to place the filter in the right place. I had to buy a J-bend for $55. The conical K&N is another $35. Then 3.5" silicone hose and the SS clamps were another $100. I still have to make provisions for the air tube and mounting tabs as well as a block off plate.

Post feedback if you end up ordering this setup.

I made my homemade CAI out of PVC plastic for about $60 including the filter and I think it looks fine.. It looks like you went with a full stainless steel setup, which is OK but you might as well have bought an aftermarket stainless if you were going to spend that kind of money anyway...
