anybody with gmmg in chicagoland?

I've been considering getting this for quite some time now, but I want to know just how loud it it and you can never tell through videos... although on one video a guy starts his car, gets out and shuts the car door and i compared it to the sound of the car door slamming, which was pretty quiet compared to the exhaust. Does anybody on this messageboard have GMMG exhaust that lives in the NW suburbs of chicago? Or I'd even be up for a drive if it came to that

My buddy put it on his 02 z28 (replacing the Loudmouth) They sound almost identical-except without as much cackling. The drone is less also. To me its TOO much money for pipes.

I went from a Hooker system to the GMMG because the Hooker was too quiet for me. The first day I had the GMMG I thought it would be too loud but like I said, I was coming off the quiet Hooker system.

It has a really agressive sound, it's not as smooth as the Hooker was which I like. It really growls. It looks like you've been doing some research on the GMMG system much as I did before I got mine. I never once read one negative thing someone said about GMMG other than the customer service. The system itself though is flawless and yes, I'll say it too....you won't regret purchasing this system.

Hey if you want you can call my cell phone, I'll start the car up for ya and let you listen. That's something I guess.

If you have an LS1 then yes, but we all know how badass LT1's sound with the right stuff.

I don't think the quality over the phone would be much different from the quality of the videos. I'm going to start looking around at reputable f-body shops around here to see if they have any cars with gmmg that they could fire up for me

Well it'd give you just another sample of what it sounds like. To be honest mine doesn't sound really anything like the video you saw.

Are you referring to the ones on gmmginc.net or whatever? because i have two vids of Indy93z28, one with stock manifolds just at idle, and one with a Comp Cams 221/227 112 lsa still on stock manifolds.

Mine sounds more like the GMMG.net videos than it does Indy's. Then again all the cars on GMMG.net are cammed and who know what else. I'm running stock manifolds, blah blah blah. I'm just tryin' to help.

I'm located in Lafayette Indiana, about 3 hours south east of Chicago. If you would be willing to drive down a couple hours I could meet up with you somewhere. I-65 is a striaght shot down here. My car isn't exactly stock, my cam is pretty lopey. But it would give you an idea. Depends on how bad you want to here it I guess . Let me know if you want to hear it and we can try to plan something.

Bryan

Edit: I forgot to mention at idle it sounds really lopey but when driving it sounds very similar to the stock cam. So if you decide you want to come down I could give you a ride and that would give you a good idea of how good it sounds.

I feel your pain with the lack of life-experience with the exhaust. It really sucks that you never really know what you are getting until you install it because there are way too many factors.

I researched Corsa and GMMG and Borla until i couldnt stand it anymore. Nobody around here has anything special, the best you see is a few Borla here and there. Corsa and GMMG are just out of people's budgets.

I finally got to the point that I was so confused that I never bought anything, im keeping the Hooker LT, dual cat, 4" Spintech muffler that im not horribly happy with the sound, but at least I dont hate it right?

Anyways to make a long story shorter, if anyone lives in north Texas and wants to let me hear their Corsa or GMMG I'd be willing to take a saturday afternoon for it.

PS-cant wait to get my dual e-cutouts installed

I live in madison (< 2 hours). With my Hooker LTs and offroad pipe it is quieter at idle than my old loudmouth, but as soon as you get on it all h*ll breaks loose. I'd be glad to meet up with you if you want. But it would have to be soon because its gonna get put away for the winter.

I'm in the NW suburbs and have it on my car, but it's an LS1. Sounds better on the LS1 than anything else I've ever heard(except for true duals, which is a totally different set-up though). Doesn't even compare to that high-piched straight-piped sounding Loudmouth crap...

So if you wanted, you could hear how badA$$ it sounds on my car, which would mean it would sound even better on your's.

Mike
