Anybody done a LT1 swap into a non-LT-1

I need help with the stuff like the AIR, PASS/VATS, and mostly the wiring codes/colors. I need to knoe what some of the wires are on the LT-1 harness and my blazers stock harness. What if I unhook the stock AIR system? How do I bypass the PASS/VATS w/o a LT1 Edit or Tunercat?
Ok I got a few on the LT-1 I dont know:
one harness with these wires:red w/black stripe , black , grey
another with orange w/black stripe , black w/white stripe
another with red , blue
another with black w/white stripe, black w/white stripe
another with tan w/white stripe
another with orange , black
another with purple, yellow, black
another with orange,blue,red,green,grey,yellow
and another that i think is for the abs cuz all are small wires brown w/white ,black w/white ,white w/black , pink, brown, brown w/white, green, green w/white,yellow w/black, and a tan

then on the Blazer I got most done
2 10 gauge reds: constant power
black 10 gauge: ground
Pink 10 gauge : ignition
Purple 10 gauge: starter
Grey 12 gauge: fuel pump
Pink (small) windsheil washer pump
Green (small) : water temp
Tan (small): Oil pressure
Brown (small) alt connector

Purple (small) I dont know and need to know

Go painless!

A buddy of mine put an LT1 in a 1989 RS third gen Camaro. It took him and a guy who really knows his stuff on GM wiring harness's about 4 months of afternoons and weekends to get it done. Literally over 100 hours. Go painless wiring man.

hey man go here> http://lt1s10.home.icq.com/wiring.html
These spreadsheets became my main source when wiring my motor up. It really isn't as bad as some say. Of course I had VATS eliminated as well as all emmissions removed, so that lessened the load.

No problemo. I remeber, when doing my swap, that there wasn't much info out there as to the wiring portion of the ordeal and when I found this site, I was set. The guy that made that page deserves major props.

i ordered the Painless harness from Summit and call it a day. Does anybody know how to make the 50hz square wave device to bypass PASS/VATS?

to bypass vats just go by your local car stereo shop and tell them what you are doing and ask them for the resistor value they use when hooking up a remote start and what wire do they put it on. i have it on my car but it has been years and i dont remember any of the info on it but a good stereo shop should be able to tell you.

I am doing two LT1 swaps right now. One in my 86 and one in my friends 82 Trans Am.
His motor is coming with a custom harness and programming.
I have to chop up my harness and program the PCM myself.
It's not that hard to do now-a-days since there are so many that have done it.

One of my friends put an LT1 into his 2000 Sonoma last year. Really clean install. Took about a month to do working a few hours in the evenings when they got all the parts together.

Dust: well i used to work as an installer, so I know all about the resistors but I dont even have the pass module. I still even have rows of resistors still in their packaging. When you get the Pass/Vats module they come with the resistors and it seems that Chevy is lazy and only ever uses like 4-5 ones at any given time. So now I got a ton of them and the resistor tables for em.

Zepher, its not that easy if you havent done it before and still have the factory computer! Plus nobody seems to know the wiring on all of the forums ive been to. oh well, I got the Painless harness coming in and Im going to see what needs what and send that hoe back!

The reason nobody doesn't know anything on any of the forums is because you are screwed in the head if you think someone could just pick up exactly what you are talking about and tell you the answers you wanted.

I posted in ssf and I'm posting here. You could have gotten the service manual for the motor and either a service manual for your truck or a haynes manual w/ their f'ed up schematics to install the wiring.

You worked as an installer. Imagine someone walking into your bay trying to install an alarm. they say, well, I have this purple, red, and blue wire coming out of here and going up there. Would you have any idea what they are talking about?????

If you sounded a little more reasonable, I would have taken the time to look through what pages I have copied out of the Helms service manual to try and help you out, but I think you would serve the purpose better of finding a Helms service manual and figuring it out yourself. There's some things that won't just be handed to you.

I've wired up vehicles with painless before as well. You again will still need a haynes or helms to tell you where to put most of the wires.

If I haven't said it enough times, GET THE SERVICE MANUAL!!!!!!

good luck.

chill man. Some people have done this swap themselves and havent paid for it with a check AND like to help people. If you dont wanna help and are just repeating what the last 8 people said then go away! And yes I have done alot of remote starts and I know what Im doing but I have never had to tap into a VSS wire, oil pressure, fuel gauge, or data wire to do so. Remember what your mom says, " IF you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything" thanks to those that HAVE helped. I will keep you posted and show some pics

I was typing from work, being quick, and didn't read over what i put down, didn't mean it in a derogatory sense.

Email the pics of the harness and i'll see if i can help you out.

and I DID this swap that someone is paying ME with a check. So I do know what I am talking about.

The VSS should just hook right into the dash, if you had the service manual you would know that the tranny sends the signal up to the pcm, the pcm conditions it and puts out a 4000 pulse per mile signal to the speedo. The speedo in your 94, according to the service manual I told you to get, will accept the conditioned 4000 pulse per mile signal the LT1 pcm is putting out.

All the other gauges should be the same. Check out my post on the alternator if you are just hooking it up hot, otherwise you will fry it.

once again, good luck.

I am getting a lot of help from the members of thirdgen.org. Quite a few of them have the same pcm and harness I have.
Wiring isn't that hard when you have the service manual, makes it easy to identify the wires.

With the VATS/PassKey issue, I'll just turn it off in the pcm.
