Any way to lower idle??

Is there any way to lower the idle of my car without having it tuned into the PCM? My car idles at about 1200 RPM's in neutral and about 1000 in gear. I remember reading something about the screw on the throttle lever but I didnt know if I could do that or not. I want to lower the idle so my cam chops a little more, plus I think 1200 RPM's is a little high anyways. I dont think there is a vacuum leak or anything. All of my gaskets are less then 8k miles old so i think I can eliminate that possibility. Can anyone give me some insight? Thanks. Dustin.

Spray brake clean around all your gaskets on the intake track. You'll know if there is a vacuum leak.

Your screw on the throttle body will only do so much.

I would look at the IAC valve. Try cleaning it / throttle body out real well. A sticking IAC can cause, high, low, and stalling problems at idle.

Every once in a while the IAC will malfunction when I start the car and it will stall. Usually after starting the car a few times it will fix itself and go back to normal. Only happens maybe once a month. Its not that big a deal since it only acts up maybe 1 time and then after I turn the key off and start it again all is good. Maybe thats what is causing it??

My IAC was causing my car to idle high. I tried cleaning it and that worked for about a week, but I ended up replacing it and that fixed the problem.

What does your car normally idle at, as opposed to when the IAC was malfunctioning??

Also, get it scanned and see what's the commanded idle speed by the PCM. If it's lower like it should be, then it's either a stuck iac or a vacuum leak.
