any valve cover clearance issues???

thinking about getting in on the cam gp and still deciding on which cam to go with. has any body had any clearance problems with cams with lift up to .555? got a couple of suggestions for a bigger cam with stock roller rockers and the guy at the speed shop said if i went with a 1.6 rocker i could have a problem and that a 1.6 would change the geometry of the entire valvetrain.

he has steered me in the right direction more times than i can count but i cant help but think that someone has a cam with that much lift and that didnt have to modify their valve covers for clearance.

thanks a lot guys

You may need to clearance the covers a bit for the 1.6 rockers to fit, or you could go with the LT4 valve covers, they should work fine. As far as going to the 1.6 rockers, I would get some non self alighing rockers and use guide plates and hardened pushrods. They should be a bit more stable than self aligning. As far as changing the geometry, it will a little bit, but it shouldn't hurt anything. Don't forget to get a good set of springs if you're going to approach .600" lift.
