Any tips on removing the EGR valve?

I found it I think. Very back of the intake manifold, driver's side. I can get the wire off but how do you get the valve off? It's very tight back there. I heard you can check it by pushing the valve back and forth and possibly save it by cleaning the carbon off. Any tips pn removing it?

I use a 1/2 inch open end/ box end wrench to remove the two nuts on the EGR studs. Be careful when removing the valve not to damage the gasket so it can be reused.

You may also want to get some of the copper gasket stuff - to avoid any little annoying exhaust leaks - especially if the car has any amount of miles on it at all (50k+)

I found it easier to access from the pass side of the engine.

Small hands and thin arms are generally an advantage when working on an f-body.

It's easier to get off than you think it is...shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Use the mini rachet

You could get an inspection mirror and flashlight and take a look so you can see what's up.
