sure you don't want to get headers first?
you'd be choking that cam with those stock manifolds
just a thought

Re: Any Stock internal CC306 Only guys?

Don't mean to hijack your thread here but i've got a question related to this. I blew a head gasket about a month ago and me and my dad about to get heads worked so we can put engine back together. He said if i was ever thinking about putting a cam in i should do it now. Car is completely stock but i would like to start modding, so would it be okay to go ahead and buy a cam for it and if so...what kind? I understand what the numbers mean for cams as to what they are (engine newb) but have no idea how to go about buying one that would be good for my LT1. =\ help?

JAB: 306 is a great cam and sounds nasty.. I love it.. youll need a tune though.

S8: I put a 306 in my buddys car TASEAL on the boards and he went 13.5 or so on a stock headed stock manifold car, then he put open long tubes on and went 13.1 with a 2.0 60ft.. I had a 306 with ported heads and went 12.7 @107.. both of us had stock internals though..

Hmm..I was trapping 103mph already before cam... I would hope to see at least a 12.9 or better.

Well..the thing is... I just dropped 800 on this so far in the past 2 months, and I need interior... as in EVERYTHING... car caught on fire. So I wont have the money for headers right now. Headers are an easy install..so they can wait.. I know the engine will be choked somewhat, but with stock heads I dont think it will matter that much right now. The car was 3540lbs race weight before I ditched the A/C so I figure I should be just under 3500lbs (includes me, and gas of course. ) Thats why I wondered how much people usually made for rwhp.

how about with hooker long tubes off road Y pipe and hooker catback and a 3600 stall, stock 3.23 gerars and assuming it will be able to hook. No headwork. Are low-mid 12s possible?
