Any negatives to using lash caps on valve stems?

Just wondering if there are any negatives to using lash caps on the valve stems as long as the correct pr length is used?
My valve train seems to be a little quieter for some reason when using them. I don't need them, but the locks I used are already recessed for lash caps and I had a set of pushrods already that were the correct length. If I go without the lash caps and go back to stock lifters, I'll need to buy another set of pr's.

Are there not any, except for a little added weight in the valve train?

What kind of cam are you using?

Lash caps are really meant for SR setups. The protect the valve stem from being beat up by solid rollers and heavy valve springs.

I assume you have a HR cam... If hats the case then you can still use them. You can also probably take them off and just use a normal setup. If you already have push rods and are already set up for the lash caps then just use em. I don't see why you would have a problem. if anything its just a bit of protection for the valve stem.

Yes, HR lifters. Well, I had some valve train noise I couldn't seem to cure without them, so I put on some lash caps just to see what it would do, and I had some .15" longer pushrods laying around from my old setup, and thought I'd just see what happens. Geometry is near correct, tip still contacts the center of the cap thru full travel, but does have a little wide pattern, but the point is the noise did quiten down a bit. Some now I'm thinking about pulling these Caddy racing lifters thinking they may be the source of the noise and going back to OEM since I'm not revving past 6k...and the OEM ones with the lash caps would put my geometry for the pr to be about .05" shorter than current, which would make the needed pushrod length be exactly what I have, actually .03 shorter would be perfect but you can't order them in that increment
So, thats the reason for wondering...

But with that said, my noise may be from the pr tapping the guide plates..kind of hard to tell.
