Question Any good weight saving tips for a 95 Z28 convertible?

Well, as you guys know verts are kind of heavy, (if I would have known this I may not have gotten one) my weight from the factory is 3480 (kind of weird that it is lighter then a LS1 vert ). Add the stereo and your talking over 3500 easily so yeah it needs to go on a diet. My question is what could I take off this car to bring back down to its stock weight or if I could even get it to go under its stock weight that would be great. I already have the most basic one covered, plan on taking out the spare tire out soon. So guys any ideas would be greatly appreciated on helping me get my car to lose a few pounds.

Thanks for the help,

Chris

Depending on how bad you want to get rid of the weight, you can remove the bracket on the passenger side of the engine that houses the alternator, power steering, and a/c compressor. You an buy an alternator relocation bracket that will enable you to install it at the bottom of the engine where to the a/c compressor originally was located. It's hard to drive one all the time like that without power steering, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices in the name of horsepower.

What makes them heavier anyway? I bet the rear window alone on a coupe weighs more than my top and rear deck lid.

Yes... go ahead and remove your springs, take your shocks out while your at it, no point in having those in there, just added weight. The bump stops could go while your at it.

That rack and pinion steering gear is pretty heavy, get rid of that... mind as well take out the engine too, but leave the transmission, you still need to shift.

Put a hamster and a cage in there, get some gears and get going.
