any gains from having a throttle body airfoil?

Does this thing really add 11.8 more HP and 36 more CFM? What exactly does this airfoil do? 11.8 HP from just adding this is marvelous, i thought to get 10 HP you had to spend around 1k.

I think 11.8 HP is a slight overstatement.

Makes you wonder where they got that sort of gain....MAYBE 1hp with a 58mm TB and tons of big mods...but 11?!

thats what i was thinking... i was fixing to whoop out the cc and purchase one. if 11 hp is the case, they need to find some more $50.00 items to give us 11hp

I have never seen a gain from a airfoil... ever.

If it was such a bright idea youd wonder why the engineers didnt build it into the throttle body when they designed.

I'd put that $50 towards something thats actually proven to gain power.

they do give a small gain of 2 or 2.5 hp. nothing you'll be able to feel, but every little bit helps! 2 here, 3 there, 5 somewhere else and you have 10.

Then why do most aftermarket 52mm and 58mm throttlebodies have then installed? There is a samll gain, around 1 to 2 horsepower, but every little bit helps. Just buy used.

all the airfoil does is block off the PCV opening in the TB so your PCV system doesnt work. at least that is the only affect(good or bad) i could see from it.

The trick is you have to buy the right one. The Holley ($55) one really does give power. GMHTP mag got 5.8 RWHP with the Holley airfoil. Personally I tested the same unit and got 4.2 RWHP. Dyno sheets at Powerhouse, OK to back it up.

Pretty good bang for the buck if you asked me.
