Any drawbacks from removing AC system?
What are the disadvantages from removing the AC equipment? I'm obviously not worried about the "no air" drawback, are there any other complications from removing this?
I removed mine over this winter and have not had any problems and can't think of any possible problems. Only thing I had trouble with was getting the right size belt to go with the A/C delete pulley. Some guys have had the stock belt work although mine was kinda of lose so I just got one which was 1/2" smaller.
In a nutshell:
--Have a shop drain the system. Note: do not wear clean clothes when you drive in and ask for this. Looking like hell will usually get you a little discount
--Locate the heater core assembly on the passenger side of the engine bay. Unscrew the two braided hoses sticking into the metal "block".
--Pull the soupcan-size accumulator
--Unbolt hoses from rear of AC compressor
--Unbolt hoses from AC condensor (by radiator) and remove condensor
--Remove serpentine belt, unbolt AC compressor. You will have to shake it like a **** to get it out and around the sway bar. Trust me, you can do it without removing anything else. But you will have to fight it a little.
--Install 1LE AC delete pulley, reinstall serpentine belt, go driving.
I might have missed a couple finer details but that's what I remember off the top of my head.

Make sure you get all the bolts. There are 3 big ones on the front and 3 bracket ones in the back of the compressor. They are a little hard to get to also with everything still in place. On one, I couldnt get the ratchet to move so I used a small impact I had to get at it. Otherwise I dont know how I would have got it. The ratchet kept hitting stuff and wasnt turning enough to click. Not hugely bad though.

I'm from Florida so the heat and humidity doesn't bother me. I hate AC in a car, I like windows down and tops out. Yeah, i'm weird
Thanks Ryan. Hey how's Jeff's car coming along? Ready to hit Big Shot?
