Any body convert there LT1 TO A LT4
Was looking to convert my lt1 to a lt4 with the conversion kit - is it worth the money it says it supposed to give 425 horspower ?? - Please let me know anybody- could you run Nitrous with this kit also
I'm getting ready to install my 355 LT4 conversion, so I don't know how it will do, but you can spray nitrous with it, and depending on your budget and mileage, it might be a good idea to rebuild your engine and get forged pistons and check everything out just to be safe. That's my .02.
425hp LT4 conversion??? what kind of Lt4 converion are u getting i sure as hell would like to know,,,
the LT4 conversion will only give u 330 hp...maybe what it meant is it can handle up to 425hp im not sure but ther are alot of ppl on here with the conversion and they will tell u it only gives u 330hp

I've seen alot of threads on it and they say that you should get 330-340 RWHP. It'd probably be cheaper to get your LT1 heads ported, XE cam like a 224/230 or something and valvetrain upgrades(springs, rr etc.), and the supporting things such as CAI, full exhaust if you dont already have it, tuning.
CamaroSS30thAnn, do you mean RWHP? The stock LT4 had 330 FWHP but the conversion kit uses a different cam than stock, I know it won't give you the 425 but i've heard about 350-360 RWHP with my set-up would be about right, I'll take it to the dyno once it is in the car and will be able to know for sure though
well the stock LT4 in the vettes or limited camaros and bird was like 330 at the crak or flywheel whatever u prefer. i could be wrong...but i dont know many manufacturers that have their ratings from RWHP
u failed to mention that the cam was not stock thats what threw me off....
sorry i should aske questions b4 i assume..

Terran2k brings up a good point, looking back after purchasing all of these mods, It is probably cheaper to get the stock heads ported and get a aftermarket cam or a custom grind cam, get a CAI, full exhaust (headers, y-pipe, cat-back), a tune, it might be a good thing to freshen up the motor while you are at it.
Let's clear this up one more time. The LT4 is rated at 330HP, but actually puts out closer to 350-360HP, most bone stock LT4s put down 300+RWHP. Add the Hotcam, and you get another 30+RWHP, which then puts you at around 390HP at the flywheel. Add on the 52mm TB (which comes with most of the "kits"), and some good tuning and you can easily see 425HP at the flywheel. Add on some good headers and you'll probably see even more. I've seen several dynos of LT4 cars with the hotcam and full boltons making 360RWHP.
Now, as to is it a good deal. Not really. You will make more power and spend less money just by getting a cam and having your LT1 heads ported and polished. As to nitrous, like someone else already stated, to be safest you really want forged internals, although there are plenty of people that run nitrouse successfully even on stock LT1s. Of course, the LT4 bumps your compression ratio 1/2 a point, so that needs to be taken into consideration if you are going to run nitrous on it too.
