Any Aftermarket LT1 Intakes?

So has anyone made a REASONABLY priced intake manifold for the LT1 yet? I don't mean Hogan either...REASONABLY PRICED.

What happened to that idea of making a plastic LT1 intake?

Slightly longer intake runners?

Better intake flow numbers?

That guy disappeared with the plastic intake. I thought Edelbrock used to make one but I haven't seen that ad in a long time. I don't see any one making due to the LT1 hasn't been made since 97. It's all about the LS1 now. I'm sticking with my LT1.

Since you mention it.. I think having the LS1 out there has raised the bar in performance and is pushing the LT1 level to the edge as well as we see more and more faster LT1's out there. They're getting more publicity in mags like GMHTP as well...

I think someone said a while back there were plans for an aftermarket intake but then everyone realized the stock LT1 intake was pretty damn good to begin with and there wasn't much to be gained from a new one.

I thought it was interesting that the aftermarket intake for the LS1 that Holley makes is aluminum

Maybe their isn't that much of a performance advantage to the polymer intake afterall?

The pre 00 LS1's have the LS6 intake as the upgrade. If you're lucky you may just find one at a junkyard for cheap instead of paying an arm and a leg for one out of summit. Do the LT4's use the same intake as the LT1's in the f bodies?

No, LT4's are different and they use different heads too. The intake runners are raised on the LT4's.

LT1 intakes flow well enough

The reason why there isnt much to offere for aftermarket LT1 intake manifolds is becuase its basically a HOLLOW box, those intakes flow up to and support 700 hp, given a minor enlargement of the TB hole.

If your choked off at 700, then if you spent the money to get to that point, then you would logically go to Hogan. So stick with the LT1's.

Also due to note, LT1 intakes flow no coolant, due to its unique flow system, a platic intake would prob melt. I beleive LS1's do flow coolant through but LT1 intakes are notorious for heat soak.... maybe thats why.

the only ones I've seen are astrnomical. I'm pretty sure the mini-ram from TPIS fits the LT1,(hard to tell from the catalog) but it's pricey and requires their fuel rails so it gets worse from there.

the "miniram" is just a machined LT1 intake that TPIS puts their name on.

I think Myron might have a different opinion. You could always call him. Personally I think it would be very difficult (impossible) to machine the outside of the stock unit so that it wouldn't accept the original oem fuel rails. Just a humble opinion .

The original LT1 intake was patterned after Myron Cotrells "miniram". So if anything, GM ripped off his design, not the other way around.

Remember, before the LT1, GM's weak attempt at a manifold was the TPI

Does the LS1 intake perform better at higher rpm?

Why?

To correct you, it's the POST 00+ LS1s that have the LS6 manifold.
