Another questoin about the Edlebroc heads...

Ok, does anyone have any idea if these are any good? I mean for the price they seem like a great deal, but would they outflow even stock heads? Would they be good for any real gains? I will be doing heads and cam at the same time so I'm sure I'll notice gains but I dont want it just to be mainly from the cam. Thanks for any info.

Cool

Edelbrock says the heads and cam together are worth 52 hp. Good; but not great. The LT4 conversion promises over 100HP. Me personally' I'm looking toward CNC ported heads and a CC305.

Well I'm contemplating doing the porting myself. I'm really interested in these: http://www.advancedinduction.com/ . We are buying a house really soon so I will just have to see how things go from there. I don't think around $2000 is bad.

Out of the box you get a head that flows like a stock LT-4 with the port volume of a LT-1. Same flow as an LT-4 and 25 less cc's removed. Should make for some major velocity. I would think it would make for a great combination when matched with a good cam. A4 guys suffer when going to the LT-4 conversion because of the lack in velocity. 6-speeds seem to like the LT-4 better. I'd like to see a test with these heads in the LT-4 conversion. I believe they would out perform the LT-4 heads on a stock cubed motor.
Edit: I just noticed your from shreveport. You should come hang out with us some time. I'd love to talk this stuff in person. We have a few pretty smart people in our little group that can steer you straight.

I just looked at the edelbroack website and they are claiming 73 hp over stock, and that's as compared to the corvette engine, so the B-body guys will get even more.

But more importantly than that, look at the curves. The torque gets a nice little boost in the 2000-3000 rpm range, but more importantly, the torque line keep climbing all the way from 3500 to almost 6000 rpm, instead of dropping off at 5000 like the stock package does.
Also, look at the HP line from 3500 rpm on.

im getting my stock heads done, i talked to my head guy who has done some edelbrock heads for LT1's and he says After its all said and done and the heads are ported to the best of there abilitly there is very little difference, not enough difference to justify spending the cash on the edelbrock heads.

What I was wondering about was, the Edelbrock heads come fully assembled for $1,039. Can I get my heads with the valve job done for that much fully assembled?

I'm pretty sure somewhere in the fine print they say they also installed headers.....

I'm a little more interested in seeing how the new Trick Flow LT1 heads turn out

Well, of COURSE you'd install headers.

But, uh... Tell me more about this Trick Flow head?

Is it going to be like the time they made the canted valve smallblock heads?

We usaully go to red river, but go to Hallsville sometimes. Come over and register on LS-1.com. All us locals hang out and talk smack in the Louisana Forum there. This way you can know where we get together at on weekends for our little F-body only meets.
