OK, this time I have to change the ignition system or sell, I have searched and found a few threads on putting a carb and hei system in, but nothing answering my question. I want to leave the old opti in place, replace the intake with a gm intake for carb, and put in a low-profile MSD hei distributor, I know there is the problem with firewall, hey I can cut it no problem, what I want to know is can I still run the same computer (tranie control) by leaving the opti in place and let the computer think it is still controlling the fuel, then wire in the MSD unit to the switch, timing I can figure out, seems to me that I should be able to do this. I know it will most likely throw codes but I can tune them out. I have checked on EFI 24x system and that's 2k, I have a carb, all I need is the MSD unit and the intake and few other items to make this work, should be able to get every thing I need for less than $800 and easier to tune.
Any body tried this or know what the computer will do or will not do.
