another "help cam" question

looking to switch cams while I pull subframe/engine/trans. Figured this was best time to do work. While in there I'm gonna pull heads, do light vavle work, maybe alittle casting flash clean up. Swap in some new rings and bearing with gaskets.
I have light sprinkling of mods now, not sure if in sig so I'll list them off
CAI from K&N
granatelli MAF
160 thermo
mid length headers unknown
aftermarket y pipe
bolt in cat delete
4" exaust, with a swapped back and forth loud mouth and flow master tail section
3:42's
lower tubular arms
bfg drag comp radials
reprogrammed by hypertech
track I run is 8th, but 60 feet short so I'll stick to the normal time
60 foot, 1:9's
330 its running 5:5
and 594 mark 7:5
I'll be installing 1:6's self aligning roller rockers
lt4 spring and light weight retainers etc etc
also a 2800 stall

so recomendation for a cam?
I run this car maybe 200-300 a week, not daily, but I do cruise the beach and hit the track.
cc305, is one that comes up alot. I'd like to get alittle more. Rightnow the computer shifts it at 6100-6200

the 305 is a good street cam, i run the cc306 on the street and i like it, mine is with a 6 speed though, you may want a little bigger stall tnan a 2800 but it may be ok. Times are in sig on the cc306...

thats what it looks like. Everywhere i read , people are staying away from LT4's and going straight to 305's. What about injectors and throttle body (re-tune is obvious)

stock injectors and TB will suffice with that cam. Mine passed CA emisisons with it completely untuned and laid down 325rwhp with it and similar mods to yours.

thats a major piece of mind that most forget about, passing emissions; at least to me. Shows the engine is a well balanced set up, making the best out of what it has.

I just noticed you want to install the lt4 springs... while these are ok with stockish cams i wouldn't trust them to control a cc305 or larger, from what i hear they can hardly control the hotcam they come with. I would look into the comp cams 918 beehives, then if you chose to go with a bigger cam your springs will be ok. They're good for .600 lift.

"from what i hear they can hardly control the hotcam they come with"

why the hell would GM make a kit that would barely work with the other componets. get serious, I have that kit and its awesome. you need a new source of info. they hold up to .600 lift. i know because im looking in the GMPP magazine. the one i ordered my kit from. so they springs are great until you get a cam bigger than a .600 lift.

lol, i need a new source of info? look at how long i've been here compaired to you. The lt4 springs that come with the hotcam are rated for only .525" lift, Do a search and anyone will tell you the same thing. Sure they work with the hotcam but i bet you will float the valves anywhere north of 6k. I don't claim to know everything but this is a well known fact around here so maybe you should do your own research before mouthing off.

This is some pretty good advice, whereas 06lingenfelter has either mis-read something or has his spring info confused.
