Another headers question

Actually a couple question. Is there a noticeable difference between shorties and long tubes as far as performance goes on a bolt on car?I plan on doing a stall convertor install this winter, will it header install be easier with the tranny out?

Re: Another headers question

it depends on headers, ive seen alot of people bitch about how hard long tubes are to install, i have a 94 and i personally love the pacesetter long tubes with no emissions, took me about 10 minutes to set in and bolt up with trany in my car, i highly recommend the long tubes for sound and future mods, u wont need to ever change your headers

Re: Another headers question

I would go the long tube route or at least mids if your future plans for the motor are big. There is no need to remove the trans., it wont help any with the header installation. But vice versa, having the old factory y-pipe off will help with the trans. removal.

Re: Another headers question

Are there also any sound differences if I get long tubes?

Re: Another headers question

Something about most of the LT's floating around is your future modifications as in aftermarket head choice.

If you are looking into running a well flowing AFR with large exhaust ports...your exhaust flange on the the typical LT header is to small and will be a restriction.

Something to think about.

Re: Another headers question

assuming you run an offroad pipe with both shorties and the LTs...since one of the things holding back gains with alot of shorties is reusing the stock cats and ypipe....

you'll probably see about 15hp with LTs on bolt on car, while shorties will yield about 7-10hp

not sure on sound or ease of install between the 2

"took me about 10 minutes to set in and bolt up"

i think that's a new record...hell took me that long to crawl out from under the car...

Re: Another headers question

After I put my k-member in the car...my header install took no time at all...that is until I got my Kooks...
