another damn opti q

Can the opti work fine at idle, then start to miss at higher RPM's? I'm having a miss/sputter after she's fully warm and above idle.

yeah, thats where they first show signs is at high rpm. mine just started it last week then friday night racing at the strip it backfired after about 5 passes, had to let it cool off for over an hour for it to run right again, i just cant figure out why it woudlnt do it all the time... *shrug*

My 94 TA missed at idel and through the rpm range, replaced opti and it fixed the problem . My 97 Z28, would start and idel fine. Once heat got in the motor, it would miss/stutter at cruising speeds. Changed opti, fixed problem. Good luck.

O.K. looks like i'll bite the bullet and get a new opti. Does the opti you get from Dal also include the cap and rotor? What other things should I replace while i'm in there?

thanks,Shawn

I just bought used ones, between 75-125.00 bucks (Complete Gm Opti). I can't see spending 300 for new. If I had to go that route, I would just By a Delteq and save a whole lot of trouble.

Re: another damn opti q

I have heard where some people check the gap on their plugs and may close the gap some (instead of .050, go to .040) so the opti does not have to work as hard to ignite the plug.

As an opti gets older, I would think it does not perform as well as when new so this could be worth a try before you spend the money and time of replacing your opti, eventhough you may still need a new opti in the end.

Just a thought ...
