Another 355 LT1 question
Another 355 LT1 question
Hey guys, I posted earlier about building a 355 LT1. Well, I've decided to order a long block from AutoZone, because the Z is now my only vehicle (my girlfriend totaled my Prelude the other night) and I need to get it on the road. I think I'm going to order the engine tomorrow for $1695.98 and also order a Comp Cams 07-304-8 cam and a set of BBK headers. The long block is already .030 over and I've typed all of the specs into DesktopDyno and come up with 349 fwhp @ 4500 and 446 fwtq @ 3500. With a pocket port job, it says I could gain almost 50 HP and 16 lbs of torque, but that can wait until I have more money and time. Anyway, I plan to build either a forged 355 or 383 over the next year, but just don't have the time or money to do it at the moment with my other car being totaled and no insurance money coming from it. My question is: are these horsepower and torque numbers realistic? Also, I know desktop dyno gives approximate flywheel horsepower. How much horsepower should I expect to the rear wheels?
I also plan to add 1.6 rockers and valve springs down the road (maybe next month). I'd actually wait for the headers and cam, but I figure it will more than likely save me a lot of headaches if I just do it now. One more thing, I have a 3" Hooker Super Competetion cat-back exhaust and the convertor has a piece of exhaust pipe driven through the middle of it...also have K&N FIPK.
If anybody can help I would appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.

yeah way to high on the torque.. and its too high on the horse power. More like 310 or so hp and the same 325 ft lbs of torque at the fly.
if it has a stock cam and stock heads it'll have alittle more power than a stock LT1 does.

If you plan to get another engine in a yr or two, y would u buy a new engine right now that'll run u what like 1700+ install? and then do it all again?
For that price, you can get a good daily driver until u can save and build for your forged 355/383 for your Z?
